Me with Councillor George Davies (Wigan Central) at Ashfield Park
Cllr George Davies and I spent a lovely sunny evening, following the recommendation to refuse Village Green Status, removing illegal posters from Ashfield Park posted by someone who was obviously disgruntled by the decision.Wigan Council have said that the Public Inquiry cost them approx £30,000 having had to pay for rooms, QC etc for a 4 day Inquiry when Cllr Gareth Fairhurst stated that witnesses would be attending. In reality Gareth represented himself with no Barrister present and despite his claims of thousands of witness statements, produced no witnesses to the inquiry which only lasted 2 days. However, the rooms and QC had to be paid for the full 4 days. Another example of Cllr Gareth Fairhurst wasting Council money and time.
With Councillor Fairhurst getting things wrong once again stating on his blog that 'Bloor Homes pulling out of Standish' I would like to thank Ray Whittingham (last year's Conservative Candidate) for putting the record straight. He's got it all TOTALLY wrong.The statement is related to an article from Construction News and is regarding Contract Leads for 21/09/15.
It is a list of sites that is asking for contractors to come forward to work on.
The £22.5m figure is the total build cost of the site.
There is nowhere any suggestion at all that the site is up for sale.
He's suggested it will all be delayed. Which is wrong and might stop people worrying about it or objecting to the detailed planning application, which is out for consultation.
If he can't understand what Contract Leads are about, he's going to have some serious problem reading through the inspector's report regarding the rejection of the Village Green Application "Save Ashfield"

'No More Houses in Standish' - FAILED, WE ARE TO HAVE YET MORE HOUSES! Cllr George Fairhurst has resigned from Planning Committee so no Fairhurst to help there then!
'Stood for MP of Wigan' - FAILED GAINING ONLY 768 VOTES FOR THE WHOLE OF WIGAN! Lost his Deposit
Many of us, Ray Whittingham, myself and others from different parties can work together with Standish Community Forum and Standish Voice for the community also negotiating with the Council to improve our Village as we have a common aim. Gareth Fairhurst refuses to join us!
Councillor Fairhurst continues to battle the Council to promote his own ideas rather than those of the community. It's time to put this to an end!
